Our Volunteer Leaders

Girlguiding’s amazing volunteers support girls to grow and reach their full potential

Throughout your daughter’s guiding adventure, she’ll be supported by inspiring volunteers who give their time, expertise and enthusiasm to help girls thrive.

Our volunteers are passionate

Girlguiding wouldn’t be able to happen without our 80,000 incredible volunteers. They’re not paid for what they do – they give their time because they are passionate and care about enriching the lives of girls. They make a difference in their local communities so that girls like your daughter can try new things, have fun and speak out on issues that matter to them.

Volunteers give their time in many different ways – they consult with girls to plan and run weekly meetings, arrange special trips and events, manage budgets, source equipment, carry out group administration and attend regular local meetings and training events. They do all of this voluntarily – to give girls in guiding fantastic opportunities and experiences.

Our volunteers are experts

Whether they’ve been involved in guiding for years, or they’re new to volunteering, our leaders undertake regular training in everything from first aid and child safety, to running activities and planning trips away.

Each unit is required to have a leader who is a qualified first aider. In addition, our leaders work closely to Girlguiding’s safeguarding policy – A Safe Space – to ensure they offer a secure environment in which girls can grow and develop. We take the safety of our young members very seriously, so that you can trust that your daughter is getting the very best out of girlguiding.
