Autumn Term Adventures

We have been working towards our ‘Have Adventure’ theme badge during this term.  This has included a campfire making popcorn pockets, making a candle in a tin, learning new knots to make gadgets and much more.

For our Remembrance meeting the Brownies made gadgets, in their sixes, to hide codes to send to our allies.  They ranged from using popcorn holders to transferring messages to a fake leg with the code hidden in the heel.  It was a great evening, and the Brownies were very absorbed in creating their items.

The unit took part in Parliament week where we were visited by “Madam Speaker”, Mrs Henley, who oversaw our debate on whether we should have a 3-day weekend.  A lot of thought went into the discussions and every Brownie had something to say.  We had a vote and had concluded we would like to keep a 5-day week.

Christmas arrived early to enable us to make and paint salt dough tree ornaments and to spend time creating our fabric wreaths.  A huge thank you to Squirrel for cutting up the huge amount of fabric needed.  The Brownies enjoyed chatting and working on these over a few weeks and the result was stunning.  We finished our term with our Christmas party with food and games, including the much loved “bucket game”.

Our Brownies’ parents were invited to watch this term’s badges be awarded. The whole unit has earned Have Adventures, camp stage 3 badge, with 8 Brownies completing the Theme award by earning their Space badges. One Brownie has earned an additional 2 interest badges, and she should be very proud of herself.  The leaders were very proud to present 3 Brownie Bronze Awards this term. These are awarded when 2 of our 6 themes have been completed. Congratulations to Eliana, Kathryn, and Kairi.
