On Sunday 29th September 2019 Zoe Peers from Southborough Guides & myself Julie Bryer from Barming Guides, took part in the London Bridge Challenge to help raise money for Diabetes UK.
Together with 3 other work and Girlguiding colleagues and a friend of Zoe’s, we walked the 10-mile course starting at Battersea Park at 10am. The weather was inclement; however, the atmosphere was fantastic as people set off for the Challenge. From Battersea Park we walked along the Thames Embankment crossing 12 bridges over the 10-mile course ending up at just the other side of Tower Bridge.
The reason myself and one of my work colleagues decided to take part in the Challenge was that we both have Type 2 Diabetes our friends come along to give us support as they also knew other people with Diabetes and wanted to help raise money for others with the condition, we raised £468 though a JustGiving page and off line donations.
A fun day was had by all for a well worthy cause.
