On Saturday 12th of October 7 girls from Victoria District began their Qualifying D of E Bronze Expedition around Blacklands Farm and East Grinstead. The weather for the two days wasn’t looking good but despite that, the girls set off on the first of 2 walks with great enthusiasm!
On the first day the weather worsened, however at the checkpoints we were met with smiles and anecdotes as to what had happened on the way. At the campsite, the girls had to pitch their tents and cook their evening meal in the rain all whilst being assessed.
Day two saw the girls up early – in the dark! and off again. The weather was better, but they had to tackle quite a few very muddy spots. With great teamwork and navigation skills they finished at the final checkpoint on time and still smiling. Overall the girls walked 22km over the two days.
Well done Caitlin, Eluise, Grace, Katy, Martha, Rachel and Rebecca. Looking forward to seeing you on Silver!
