Roll up, roll up, for the Greatest Show on Earth…..
Rainbows from Dunorlan Division celebrated our 30th Birthday in splendid Circus style on 14th October 2017. 40 girls from 4 Units took part in an Activity Day that encompassed all elements of the circus.
The Rainbows tried their hand at juggling, stilt walking, plate spinning, tightrope walking and ribbon dancing, with great success. Their creative side was released with making their own ribbon sticks, decorating circus face masks and creating trapeze artists. After a beautiful sunny picnic lunch, we were entertained by the wonderful ‘Topper’, who made us laugh and gasp with shock, at every opportunity. His extraordinary unicycle skills will stay in the memories of us leaders for long time!
The girls also got to have a go at Carnival Side shows, including ‘Bat The Rat’, ‘Tin Can Alley’ and ‘Hoopla’. They also had the option of circus face paint designs, as well as watching a balloon modelled for them in front of their very eyes!
All levels of Guiding were involved; Trefoil Guild, Senior Section, Guides, Brownies and of course, the Rainbows themselves. It was an amazing day, filled with smiles, laughter and achievement. As it drew to a close, we all stood and renewed our Promise, collected our party bags and said goodbye to friends, old and new. Happy Birthday Rainbows!
