What an amazing weekend. 13 Guides, 2 Leaders, 1 Unit Helper and 1 Young Leader headed off to Port Lympne Zoo for their Wild At Heart Sleepover.
The Guides spent the day exploring the zoo before heading off on their private safari with Charlie. We got to see over 700 animals and over 88 species including gorillas, bears, cheetah, giraffe and many more!
Each patrol had a BBQ outside their pinewood pod and cooked their dinners outside – burgers, sausages, salad, chicken skewers and tuna pasta salad. This was followed by s’mores.
We then had a camp fire evening which was enjoyed by other guests as well.
Set amongst towering pine trees, our Pinewood Pods were overlooking the Amur tigers and European wolves. The pods were amazing but us leaders got a free upgrade to the Shepherds Hut – no walking across the field to the toilets for us!
All was peaceful until one pod got visited by a mouse!!
Up early Sunday morning to cook their bacon sandwiches for breakfast with fruit, fruit juice and pain au chocolates before heading once more into the zoo for the day and exploring the Dinosaur Forest.
