In July, 100 Guides and 18 leaders came together for Kwackers 4 a Night at Blacklands Farm. The event offered units without camping equipment or the correct licences the chance to camp for the night and experience the adventurous activities offered at Blacklands.
Throughout the day the girls took part in a number of activities including fire lighting, grass sledging, zip wire, low ropes, a pool party and kayaking on the lake.
One favourite was the newly installed Gladiator Challenge, a vertical obstacle course which required a lot of support from the ground to encourage the girls to make it to the top. Chloe from Harriersham Guides said ‘the hardest part was getting over the tyres, however the view over the trees at the top was worth the climb’. Claire from 10th Maidstone Guides said ‘the best bit was dangling from the rope because it felt like you were flying’.
The day ended with a mass sleep over with 50 girls in each marquee – good fun (and not a lot of sleep) was had by all!
