Trefoil Guild Danube not so blue Cruise

A group of Five Trefoil Guild Members from Kent Weald joined a group of 311 other Trefoil Guild Members on a Danube Cruise.  We flew into Munich, then by coach to Passau and our cruise.  We had two ships the ‘Serenity’ and the ‘Belvedere’.

We visited Melk in Austria with a visit to the Abbey and then on to Vienna the capital of Austria.  We had a morning Excursion around the city and in the afternoon a visit to Schonbrunn, the Fairy tale castle.  In the evening we had a Venture Abroad reception in the Arcotel Hotel.  The next day we arrived in Budapest the capital of Hungary.  We had a city tour of Budapest in the morning and in the evening a visit to a typical night club, with wine, goulash and Hungarian entertainment. We had a night tour of the city and back to the ship.

Next day we had a trip to the Puzta Horse show and a tour round the stables. The next day we arrived in Bratislava the capital of Slovakia, where we had a tour around the city and up to the castle overlooking the river.  We docked in Krems early Sunday morning and then a short coach ride to the small village Durnstein in Austria.  The steep narrow roads took us up to the beautiful church and a street of shops.

Back to the ship and we sailed back to Passau in Germany. On the last night we were served a seven-course meal with all the extra’s including a huge Trefoil 75th Anniversary cake.  We went through about 10 locks on our journey and passed many small villages. We had fellowship with Trefoil members from Aberdeen to Cornwall and all places in between.  Sadly, on Monday we packed our cases and travelled to Munich Airport and home to the UK.
