On Saturday 6th May, 4 Guides and 2 Leaders met bright and early at Maidstone East station to travel to London to the ICANDO London which is part of Girlguiding HQ. They were joined by Guides from Paddock Wood and Crawley to take part in a day of activities to earn their Independent Living badge. As well as learning about budgeting and which advice agencies are out there to help they also decorated and assembled a jewelry hanger.
After lunch we ventured out onto the streets of London for an A-Z quiz and covered quite a few miles around Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Knightsbridge and Belgravia. Some of the things we learnt were that there are 17 lampposts on Constitution Hill, there are lots of foreign embassies in Belgravia Square and that doormen at Harrods are very friendly.
All in all a good day was had by all and they definitely earned their badge.
