Old Railways and many stiles….!

Eight of us met in Goudhurst village for a crisp cold first walk of 2017 with Kent Weald Walkers. We welcomed two new walkers Claire and Amie from Tonbridge. Sally H led the walk and what a walk it was. We walked across the old Goudhurst Railway line that used to run from Paddock Wood to Hawkhurst before MR Beeching came along. We then walked on the outskirts of Kilndown which was made famous by Sir Patrick Mayhew who was a very well-known MP who used to lived there. We walked past many beautiful houses which are in some great locations. There were quite a few stiles which for us that have creaky knees was a little challenging. We believe over 20 in total.

We finished by a small hill walk up back into Goudhurst but the reward was an amazing view across to Horsmonden church and the rest of the beautiful Kent countryside. We finished off in the tea room for a very nice lunch and cup of tea.

If you want to join us look out for the advert in the weekly news or on the website. All leaders are welcome, walks are usually 4-5 miles and we try to finish with an optional lunch and/or a hot drink in the winter or ice cream in the summer!
